Tennessee: Graceland

Home To The King Of Rock ‘n Roll

I’m sure by now you have heard of Elvis and if you haven’t then you must be living under a rock. Here is a quick summary of who this man is. Elvis Presley, the king of rock ‘n roll, was born in January 8th, 1935 (Hey!! That’s today, Happy Birthday Presley!) in Mississippi. He was an actor, musician, but better known for his singing abilities. Elvis was a big influencer in the change to music genres; bringing awareness to rockabilly, rhythm and blues, country music, and rock and roll.

For further information on the King of Rock ‘n Roll, google who this dude is or better yet visit GRACELAND! 😉

History on Graceland

Of course I don’t want to spoil the tour for you so let me give you a brief history lesson on Graceland. This 13.8 acre mansion located in Memphis, Tennessee was owned by Elvis Presley from 1957-1977. Since then has been designated as a historic landmark. Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis, is currently in charge of the estate.

Admission:

** MANSION TOUR PRICING ONLY

Adult  $38.75
Seniors 62 and older  $34.90
Youth/Students 13-18  $34.90
Children 7-12  $17.00
Children 6 and Under**  FREE

This is a self guided tour where you will be provided a tablet with all information regarding the estate. I’m a huge fan of self-guided tours!!! If you prefer to have a tour guide, don’t worry becuase there are well informed staff memebers in every room. They are extremely kind and helpful.

On this tour you’ll get to see into his beautiful home + his two incredible planes. Nothing has been altered so yessss there is a whole lot of shag carpeting. SMH!! At the end of the tour make sure to visit the meditation garden. Elvis, his mother, father, twin brother, and grandmother are all buried there.

There are several other package options, if you wish to explore more of Elvis’ grounds & toys.

After the tour, swing by one of the 4 dining facilities on site. We were on a tight schedule when we went so the “Rock’n Go” is where we grabbed a few sandwiches, coffee, and then got right back to our tour.

#SorryNotSorry about that Elvis fanatic in your family not being able to attend?? Well don’t fret, there are multiple gift shops all around the grounds to buy them something.

It seems like no matter what time of the year you go to Graceland there is always some event going on. Make sure to check Graceland’s website for more event details. When we arrived they were setting up for a concert… unfortunatley we didn’t know this prior and tickets were already sold out. How cool would it have been to watch a concert right there on premise though?!

Definitely a MUST SEE for any Elvis fanatic!
